Emerging leaders urged to join Leadership Charlevoix County
Leadership Charlevoix County (LCC) is a comprehensive training experience for community members seeking to play a more active role in leadership and their county. The program creates community awareness, networking opportunities, and focuses on leadership skill development through an educational and hands-on curriculum.
During the 9-month program, members participate in one full-day session monthly, exploring and working with proven community leaders, while developing their own leadership plan. Sessions are held throughout the county, including Beaver Island. In addition to the sessions and a mentor who will work with them individually, the class selects a community need to fulfill.
The nine-month course, running from September through May, will take participants throughout the county and includes sessions in:
· Connecting with Your Government
· Ethics, Culture & Philanthropy
· Building Your Toolbox
· Economic Development
· Education Today
· Health & Human Services
· Environmental and natural resources
· Where do we go from here?
In addition to the monthly sessions, the course kicks off with an orientation and then an overnight retreat to Beaver Island. Participants will be matched with a mentor who will help open doors to personal and professional growth. The session culminates with a graduation ceremony in May.
Seats are limited and interested individuals are encouraged to complete an application soon. Tuition is $1200 for the full course and includes materials, meals and other program costs.
